WHAT IS A BREAST LIFT?
A breast lift, or mastopexy, is a cosmetic surgery that addresses sagging in the breast. It works to re-establish an aesthetically proportionate bust according to each patient’s characteristics. It does not significantly change the size of the breasts but focuses on reshaping and repositioning them. The goal is to obtain a tighter breast expression while ensuring continued functional sensitivity for the breasts. This surgery isn’t just about aesthetics; it can also address discomfort caused by sagging breasts.
BENEFITS
Many women consider a breast lift to address common issues such as sagging breasts, loss of volume, or changes in breast shape due to factors like pregnancy, weight fluctuations, or aging. If you’ve noticed a lack of firmness and elasticity in your breasts, a breast lift could be the transformative solution you seek.
RESTORING YOUTHFUL CONTOURS
A Breast Lift not only reshapes and elevates but also restores a youthful silhouette, enhancing your overall appearance and self-esteem.
IMPROVING POSTURE AND COMFORT
Beyond aesthetics, the procedure addresses discomfort and poor posture associated with sagging breasts, ensuring a harmonious blend of beauty and functionality.

TYPES OF INCISIONS FOR BREAST LIFT
PERIAREOLAR INCISION: A SUBTLE APPROACH
The Periareolar incision takes a discreet path around the areola, blending seamlessly with the natural transition between the areola and the surrounding skin. This technique is favored for addressing mild to moderate sagging while minimizing visible scarring. The inconspicuous nature of the incision makes it a popular choice for those concerned about post-surgery aesthetics.

WHO IS A CANDIDATE?
There is no strict age range for being a candidate for a breast lift. If your breasts have finished developing and you are experiencing sagging, then you may qualify for this procedure. However, addressing the issue sooner may show better results.
In general, you might consider a mastopexy for the following reasons:
- After nursing or pregnancy
- Post-bariatric surgery
- After weight loss
- As part of a breast revision surgery

BREAST LIFT WITH AUGMENTATION
Breast lift with augmentation, often referred to as augmentation mastopexy, combines two popular breast enhancement techniques—breast lift and breast augmentation.
Breast lift with augmentation is a powerful solution for individuals seeking enhanced breast volume and a lifted appearance. By combining these two procedures, individuals can achieve a comprehensive and harmonious transformation, boosting their confidence and revitalizing their overall aesthetic.
Some patients might consider placing a small implant at the time of the lift to help fill out the breast volume. To be noted, the breast augmentation part can add competing forces against the lift. It is not always recommended to be combined. However, Dr. Linville will discuss this option with you should you think it a fit, and he’ll inform you if it is possible. In general, smaller implants are used to prevent excessive tension on the lift.
THE PROCEDURE
RECOVERY AND DOWNTIME
If this is your only surgery, you go home the same day and see Dr. Linville in the office on the first day after surgery.
No lifting or exercise is permitted for two weeks afterward, but light walking is encouraged. You should not strain yourself and stay at a low speed. If you feel tired, don’t push yourself. It is essential to listen to your body’s signals during this time.
After two weeks, you may begin lifting and exercising moderately; at six weeks, you may resume vigorous exercise.
Dr. Linville will also see you several times during and after recovery. During these checkups, he monitors results and adjusts accordingly.
